Vellayani Lake Vellayani Lake is a fresh water lake, which is located in the Thiruvananthapuram District of Kerala. Covering an area of 7.5 sq km, this lake is the largest freshwater lake in Thiruvananthapuram District. Many people visit this lake during moonlit nights.

Marine Aquarium Vizhinjam Marine Aquarium, which was established in 1997, is situated at Vizhinjam, which is an important fishing port in Kerala. This aquarium showcases the rarest species of invertebrates and ornamental fish in the world. Managed by the Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI), this aquarium houses crabs, squirrelfish, moon wrasse, clownfish and butterfly fish.

Visitors to the aquarium can also see lionfish, giant turtles, surgeonfish, triggerfish, piranhas and sharks.

Vizhinjam Fishing Harbor Vizhinjam Beach was originally a commercial centre for the Europeans, Portuguese and the Dutch, who used to trade with the native kings. This beach is situated 4.7 km away from Kovalam, in the coastal town of Vizhinjam. Vizhinjam Beach serves as a major sea port area. The area around the beach is dotted with several Ayurvedic treatment centres, where Ayurvedic massages and treatments are available.
